We take lots of time.
We don’t book 30-minute sessions, especially for first-time clients Barrie will still be explaining about the session and directing/posing 20 minutes after most clients arrive and most (at least the ladies) will want to apply makeup (arriving ready to shoot isn’t essential).
A standard booking is an hour and a half and we will allow extra time if needed.
That’s ample time to allow for changes of make-up, hair and clothing.
We don’t give you lots of images.
We don’t value quantity – just quality. Just how many headshots can you actually use before your look changes and how many variations can you deliver in the session?
Our standard sessions deliver three images – we don’t expect you to order extras (though some occasionally do).
We don’t expect you to be comfortable in front of the camera.
Part of what we do is educating clients about how to look their best in a headshot.
We know clients can be tense, especially for a first time – we allow enough time to break down those barriers to getting a good shot.
We know that what worked well for the last client might not work as well for the next. We try lots of different options to get the best from you.
We review as we go.
We always shoot connected to the laptop in the studio, so we can review high resolution images on a large screen.
You will leave confident that you’ll have a hard time choosing the final shots (we don’t do that on the day).
We’re not surprised or bothered if you have a big spot.
Retouching the images is part of the service. We expect skin blemishes and your finished images are meticulously retouched to remove transient blemishes – your image will show you at your best (but still you).
We don’t include hair and make-up styling,
Your professional headshot is probably best to represent a relatively raw you. You are potentially being hired based on that image and you need to walk into an audition looking like your headshot, so it’s best to be able to to do your own hair and make-up.
We can add hair and make-up styling on request, but it would likely double the price and time needed for the session (we’re not cheapskates when it comes to paying other professionals and we don’t generally expect professional hair and make-up to take less than another hour and a half).
We know what you need.
Most of these images are destined for social media and professional sites like Spotlight.
We deliver print-ready digital copies in both colour and black & white.
You get a square crop for profile images on social media (and Instagram) and an upright 5:4 (10×8) for professional sites and print. We also include our preferred landscape orientation shot (the negative space works well for poster images adding text – agents like these for announcements on social media).
